brand: AVE.

A while back I had the pleasure of receiving an email from creator of up-and-coming label, 'AVE.', [pronounced avenue], Sarah Taylor.

She presents to us:

'De Stijl'

the latest Summer 2013 collection from AVE.

"This season the collection has drawn influences from Mondrian and the neoplasticism art movement."

The new collection is described as "a lot more masculine", and "more focused on fabric selection than the previous season: most of the fabrics are silk tulle, silk organza, and linen."

1*So tell us Sarah, how did you get into designing?

I dreamed of designing clothes since I was a kid. I knew about East Sydney Tech in high school and that it was the only place to go to become a fashion designer!
After graduating from East Sydney I starting designing for Mambo, then after a year styling in New York I came back to Sydney and started and Insight then Zimmermann.

2*When did AVE. start up?

AVE. was always what I wanted to do so with a push from one of my fashion buyer sister I launched the debut S/S 2011 collection at Gaffa Gallery during RAFW 2011.

3*What is your favourite upcoming/current style trend?
Plastic and tailored sportswear - I love contrasting beautiful delicate fabrics with unconventional materials. Tailored sportswear is just so wearable and looks great on the body, it's fun pair them with outrageous pieces and denim.

4*Who is your ideal AVE. girl?
Clemence Posey - fresh faced, chic and has her own style.

5*Where do you see AVE. the label in 5 years time?

Hopefully London Fashion Week - it would be an honor to show AVE. there.
Also having a great and developed team on board in the studio would be fantastic!

6*How would you describe an ordinary day at the AVE. office?
The studio is in sunny Bondi Beach so I like to wake up and go for a walk or swim to clear my head then come back, check my favourite blogs and websites then get on with emails, product orders and deliveries. Some days I have more time to sketch and draw inspiration from my large book collection or just have a lazy day and get up late thinking about all the work I should be doing!

exciting things bondi-born and bred: hits home hard.
can't wait to see what the label has to offer in the future.

brand: Dear Creatures.

sadly, it's not fall here in Sydney anymore, although i must say the weather right now is reminiscent of the winter that just passed. crazy storm weather, alternating between sunny/stormy. where is the double rainbow? [[reference here to the youtube video, yes. if you haven't seen the yosemitebear mountain guy, click here]]

i actually wanted these cute photos up quite a while ago, just never got around to looking through my folders, until today.
i've got a cool idea for an outfit post, might try it out tomorrow!

toodles.

brand: Miss Unkon.

all photos taken from the miss unkon website
how divine are these colours?
there's such a nostalgic naivety to miss unkon's pieces, and combined with perfect detailing makes
me want these pieces all the more. it's hard to believe the brand was really only conceived a few years ago.

check out more on the website

brand: Secret Squirrel.

i simply cannot get over Secret Squirrel. and that's that.
ever stumbled upon a line of clothing you wish never ended? for me, that brand would be Secret Squirrel. [[the flow of the fabric is just right]]
when something just hits the perfect balance for you, and you're suddenly overwhelmed with obsession? that's what i'm talking about when it comes to Secret Squirrel. the fact that the brand is Sydney based, and that the designers in fact started at Glebe Markets, a market i'm very familiar with [[in fact i've had a stall there multiple times]], just adds bonus brownie points.
perhaps if you aren't getting my meaning, you should see for yourself.

i'd also like to say a big thank you to all of you lovely followers, because the moonchild has just hit...

100 followers! [[+2 now]]

i'm so happy there are so many of you out there who support me, my writing, my ramblings and my amateur attempts at fashion blogging, which hopefully will be well, not-so-amateur after this great feat. [[note the sarcasm..]] -insert smiley, which looks weird italic, the reason i don't put smileys although i'd really love to-
this month i have a couple of band interviews for you guys, many more much needed outfit posts, more playlists, and hopefully more inspiration, [[starting with Secret Squirrel]]
oh, and it's one of my best friends, Jemma's birthday today. so, happy birthday Jemma!

happy spring, southern hemisphere children!

i'd very much like to own all of these... and many many more, i assure you, i saved every single one of their looks, and can't help flicking through them in class...

brand: One Teaspoon

yummy. just look at them skulls. all photos off the one teaspoon website
so i did some browsing. and i somehow got to one of the souther hemisphere's most adored labels, one teaspoon. their latest collection has me craving shopping, something i rarely do. there's a certain girly-ness to the shapes, teamed with rocker-cool colours and attitude. love. not to mention the lighting of the shoot really emphasises the lovely silhouettes of the almost balloon-like dresses. i'd love to own one.

two posts in one day, wow.
